MORENO VALLEY, CA (June 30, 2026) – Riverside University Health System – Medical Center (RUHS-MC) ranks No. 1 for social responsibility among hundreds of California hospitals on the 2026-2027 Lown Institute Hospitals Index.
RUHS-MC earned the top spot among 257 acute care hospitals in California for its commitment to measures such as clinical outcomes, patient safety, patient satisfaction, community benefit and cost efficiency.
The rankings, which were released June 23 by the nationally recognized nonprofit think tank, placed RUHS-MC 28th out of 2,689 acute care hospitals in the United States, putting it in the top 1%.
“Providing exceptional care to all patients who walk through our doors is at the core of what we do at RUHS,” said Dr. Alexandra Clark, Chief Medical Officer. “As the safety-net hospital for Riverside County, we work to ensure every resident who visits us feels seen, cared for and safe, and that they have the best possible health outcomes.”
This is the Medical Center’s third time on the Index. The Lown Institute uses 54 metrics to determine a hospital’s social responsibility performance.
