MORENO VALLEY, CA (Dec. 9, 2025) – For a third consecutive year, Riverside University Health System (RUHS) – Medical Center is one of the top hospitals in the United States for maternity care, according to ratings released today by U.S. News and World Report.
The Medical Center earned a High Performing designation – the highest tier available in the magazine’s list “2026 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy).”
“Riverside County is fortunate to have a premier health system that serves residents of all ages, from birth and beyond,” said Fifth District Supervisor Yxstian Gutierrez. “We are so proud of the quality maternity care RUHS delivers to mothers and babies.”
This year a record number of hospitals – 901 – submitted maternity data for evaluation to U.S. News, but only 495 of those hospitals (55%) were high performing. These hospitals met high standards for each of U.S. News’ quality metrics, including low rates of avoidable C-sections and severe newborn complications. Higher breastfeeding rates, birthing-friendly practices and transparency on racial and ethnic disparities were also among the quality metrics.
"Our dedicated physicians work closely with the RUHS staff in a framework of continuous quality improvement to provide the highest level of care for pregnant moms and their babies," said Dr. Ronald Johnson, Chair of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Medical Center. “We’re honored U.S. News and World Report recognizes the tremendous work we do.”
The RUHS Medical Center stands as a leader in the region for maternity care:
- It is an established Baby-Friendly Hospital by Baby Friendly USA for its high standards for birthing and breastfeeding practices;
- its HeRCARe clinic is Riverside County’s premier maternal fetal medicine program specializing in treatment for women with high-risk pregnancies;
- and its 32-bed, Level III neonatal intensive care unit delivers high-quality care to sick babies as young as 23 weeks’ gestation.
This is not the only honor the Medical Center has received from U.S. News. It was also honored as part of U.S. News’ 2024-2025 Best Hospitals awards for quality care in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), kidney failure and stroke.
