Wellness for Residents

It’s important to us that our residents stay mentally and physically healthy during their residency at RUHS.

One of the perks of being in the residency program at RUHS, located in Moreno Valley, is its proximity to a wide variety of activities. Whether you want to go to the beach, mountains, desert, or big city, all are within about an hour’s drive. 

To the west are Newport, Laguna, Santa Monica, and other beaches for swimming, surfing, wind surfing, sailing, or just hanging out on the sand. Or, if you prefer staying closer to home, Lake Perris is just minutes way and offers camping, fishing, water skiing, and more. Los Angeles and Orange Counties offer highlights such as the J. Paul Getty Museum of Arts, the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, and University Studios, Hollywood. 

To the north, residents enjoy exploring the picturesque San Bernardino National Forest which soars over 11,000 feet. The Lake Arrowhead, Idyllwild and Big Bear resort communities offer skiing during winter; and water skiing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, and camping during summer. 

Less than an hour east of Moreno Valley is Palm Springs with its shopping, hiking, resorts spas, and many golf courses.  

About 40 minutes south is the Temecula Valley which boasts a plethora of wineries and is often described as the “Napa Valley” of Southern California. In the springtime, the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival is a must see. 

Head an hour south past Temecula to visit San Diego, famous for its temperate weather and family-oriented attractions such as the San Diego Zoo, the San Diego Wild Animal Park, and Sea World. 

The climate in Moreno Valley is typical of the Southern California valley. Summers are sunny and dry with temperatures that range from the 80s to the low 100s. Winters are clear and cool and offer spectacular views of snow-covered mountains. Temperatures rarely dip below the 60s on winter days.
