Frequently Asked Questions

As one of the main hospitals in Riverside County, RUHS has the privilege of being the safety net hospital of the 10th most populous county in the United States. We serve a diverse patient population of approximately 90,000 patients per year, including those from the county prison. Even though we are a Riverside County hospital, we routinely accept patients from hospitals far outside county lines.

Given the long history as a teaching hospital, the attendings and staff are eager to help learners across the different specialties. Our residents are not limited to procedures by year, and most have already either seen or done a vast variety of procedures from thoracotomies to transvenous pacers. Approximately once a year, volunteers will accompany Dr. Stephanie Loe to an underserved country and deliver quality healthcare to its citizens. This allows us the opportunity to enrich ourselves in their culture and provide them with basic medical care not limited to antibiotics, wound care, and ultrasound-based diagnostics.

We have a variety of services available at our disposal to best provide quality healthcare to our patients. We are linked with the county psychiatric facility, so patients can go there for help directly from our emergency department. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, we have all surgical services available 24/7 from general surgery to vascular surgery to orthopedic surgery. We also have many other services around the clock, such as, but not limited to, Ob/Gyn, interventional radiology, ophthalmology, ENT, and urology.
