Advisor Role
Each participating student or group must have an advisor from their school, college, or organization.
Advisors play an important role in ensuring students are prepared, supported, and meeting all contest requirements.
Advisors help ensure:
- Students understand all contest rules and deadlines
- Release forms are completed by the advisor and all team members
- Content is appropriate and original
- Videos meet the 30–60 second requirement
- Final entries follow approved methods (YouTube Unlisted or direct file upload)
Advisor Responsibilities
- Review student scripts, concepts, and final videos
- Ensure no copyrighted material is used
- Confirm all actors have signed release forms
- Submit or verify submission of required forms
- Serve as the primary contact for communication with contest staff

Student Checklist
Before Filming
- ✔ Choose a category
- ✔ Brainstorm your message
- ✔ Write a script or outline
- ✔ Secure an advisor
- ✔ Gather actors (if needed)
- ✔ Obtain location permission
During Filming
- ✔ Keep video between 30–60 seconds
- ✔ Use original footage
- ✔ Record clear audio
- ✔ Avoid copyrighted music/images
After Filming
- ✔ Add English subtitles if needed
- ✔ Export in an accepted format
- ✔ Complete release forms
- ✔ Submit shareable video URL link and forms by June 30
Advisor Instructions for Video Submission
Supporting Your Students Through the Submission Process
Students will submit their entry using one of two approved methods. Please review their video and confirm it meets the technical requirements before they complete the submission form.
Approved Submission Methods
1. YouTube - Unlisted Video (Preferred)
Students may upload their video to YouTube and set the visibility to Unlisted. They will paste the unlisted link into the submission form.
Advisors should confirm:
- The video is set to Unlisted (not Public, not Private).
- The link opens and plays correctly.
- Audio and visuals are clear.

Advisors can Download the YouTube Help Guide (PDF) to walk students through creating a YouTube account, setting up a channel, and uploading their video as Unlisted for submission.

2. Direct File Upload (256 MB Limit)
Students may upload one video file directly through the submission form.
Maximum file size: 256 MB
Allowed file types: avi, mov, mp4, ogg, wav, webm
Advisors should confirm:
- The file is under 256 MB.
- The file type is one of the approved formats.
- The video plays from start to finish without errors.
Advisor Review Checklist
Before students submit, please ensure:
- The video follows all contest rules and category guidelines.
- The content is appropriate and meets school and district standards.
- The video is accessible using one of the two approved methods.
- The student has permission to participate and appear in the video.
- The submission link or file has been tested for playback.
