RUHS doctor made honorary member of prestigious international medical society

At their annual meeting in Oslo, the European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ESTES) named Dr. Raul Coimbra an honorary member of their prestigious medical society.
ESTES is an umbrella organization comprising 10 national societies. Its mission is to promote interest, knowledge and quality of care in emergency and trauma surgery.
ESTES has bestowed a total of 40 honorary memberships to individuals who have made significant contributions made to the development of Trauma and Emergency Surgery in Europe. Dr. Coimbra is the eighth honorary member from the United States.
Dr. Coimbra, surgeon-in-chief for Riverside University Health System (RUHS) since 2018, presided over the Medical Center’s Level 1 Trauma Center accreditation and currently serves as the director of the RUHS research center. He has served as a leader in the nation’s and world’s most prestigious trauma organizations, including the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma and the World Health Organization. He has edited more than eight books covering all aspects of trauma and emergency surgery and has published more than 630 scientific publications in clinical and experimental research related to the subjects of trauma, emergency general surgery and surgical critical care.
