Medical Student Rotation
To Visiting Medical Students
Welcome, we are very pleased you made the choice to spend a rotation during your medical education with us. The Anesthesia Department at RUHS has a tremendous amount to contribute to your understanding of anesthesia and medicine in general. Whether you are interested in applying to our residency program or not, this rotation has the potential to be a valuable experience for you. If you demonstrate the initiative and confidence, you as students will assume a functional role as part of the anesthesia team at RUHS; you will be directly involved in the preoperative assessment, induction, OR anesthetic maintenance, emergence and PACU management of your patient while here. While here, you may also be able to spend time with residents on the obstetric and regional anesthesia services. Please read the Rotation Goals and Objectives prior to the start of your rotation.
As the rotation supervising attending, I will make all efforts to meet with you personally on several occasions during your rotation and ensure your educational needs are being met. The entire department is here to support you. Residents are always available if you have questions, problems, concerns, etc. We are all here to make your rotation easier, answer your questions, and facilitate your experience.
At RUHS things move very quickly, but you will get out of your rotation what you put in. If you have any additional questions before your rotation, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to working with you and having you as part of our team here at RUHS.
I look forward to meeting you and sharing our service and specialty.
