Enhanced Medical Services (EMS)
The Enhanced Medical Services (EMS) Program is a collaboration between Riverside University Health System (RUHS) and the Department of Public Social Services (DPSS). The goal of the program is to improve or maintain health status of children with special health care needs (a.k.a medically fragile), who are dependents of the court system, due to parental/caregiver abuse or neglect. These children have conditions that may require the use of durable medical equipment, close monitoring by health care specialists, and ongoing treatments and care by trained caregivers. The PHNs evaluate the child's health conditions that may qualify for program services, make placement recommendations, follow the child’s health treatment plan, and collaborate with social service practitioners, health care providers, parents, substitute care providers, and other disciplines, to meet the health care needs of the child.
