The Public Guardian serves conservatees, many of whom are placed at long term care facilities, such as skilled nursing facilities, assisting living facilities, IMDs, mental health rehabilitation centers, augmented board and care homes, and other adult residential facilities in Riverside County and in the surrounding counties.

Our Team

The Riverside University Health System | Behavioral Health | Public Guardian team is comprised of the Public Guardian, Director of Innovation, Deputy Director of Forensics, a Mental Health Services Administrator, two Supervising Deputy Public Guardians, 17 Deputy Public Guardians, and an Administrative Services Manager.  The multi-disciplinary team that supports the Public Guardian’s Office is comprised of Investigators, Nurses, Clinical Therapists, Case Managers, Accounting Clerks, Office Assistants, and Transportation Team Members.  Deputy Public Guardians are governed by the California State Association of Public Administrators, Public Guardians, and Public Conservators (PAPGPC).  The California PAPGPC ensures that its members have their own professional identity, promotes service delivery standards throughout the state, and develops a mechanism for its members to receive competency and proficiency training on a regular basis.

Long Term Care works in conjunction with the LPS Conservatorship division of the Riverside County Public Guardian Office. The Program’s purpose is to ensure all consumers discharged from acute Psychiatric Hospitals and are in need of residentially based treatment receive the most appropriate care to promote hope and recovery.

The Representative Payee Program, a division of the Riverside County Public Guardian Office, was created to provide services to persons with mental illness who do not require a conservator but who do need assistance handling their finances to provide 
for food, clothing, and shelter.
